Free Home Visits

Parents As Teachers Home Visits

Family Center home visits have early education knocking right at your door!

Our FREE Parents as Teachers (PAT) personalized home visits bring play, education and fun right to your young child and you! Home visits are based on your family’s needs and availability. Each personalized home visit lasts approximately 1 ½ hours. Some families request one visit per month; other families request two, three or more visits per month.

Parent Educators

Our parent educators are professionals who are certified in the internationally-recognized PAT early-learning curriculum. Specialized visits to your home are planned between you and your Family Center teacher. The topics for each visit are chosen on your child’s age, development, their special interests and your specific questions. Each visit is planned regarding activities and parenting topics that interest you.

What does a home visit look like?

Families are all smiles when it's time for a Family Center home visit.

A Parents as Teachers (PAT) home visit involves a certified Parent Educator meeting with the family, typically in their home or other comfortable location, to provide guidance and support related to their child's development and parenting. PAT visits are personalized, focusing on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being.

Key Aspects of PAT Home Visits include:

Individualized Approach-

The visit is tailored to the specific needs and concerns of the family and child. The PAT curriculum is personalized to the needs of the family.

Focus on Parent-Child-Interaction-

The visit encourages parents to engage with their child, learn about their child’s development and understand how to support their child's growth.

Developmental Guidance-

Parent Educators provide information about child development, milestones and fun, easy ways to encourage learning and development.

Addressing Parenting Concern-

PAT home visits offer a safe and confidential space for parents to discuss any challenges or questions they have about parenting.

Resource Connection-

Parent Educators can connect families with community resources, such as family-friendly activities, support for food, finances, health or other needs.

Location Flexibility-

Visits can take place in the home, a park, library, or even virtually.

Regularity-

Families typically receive regular visits, often monthly, with the frequency adjusted based on the family’s individual needs.

In essence, a PAT home visit aims to empower parents to be their child's first and best teacher, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for their child's optimum growth and development.
